The Hangar
The Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum keeps a gallery of over 140,000 paper airplanes designed by visitors. Every day, one of them earns a spot in our hangar. We take this honor extremely seriously.
Today
Planes and printable folding templates come from the Smithsonian's How Things Fly exhibit. Go make one. Add to the pile.
Why this page exists
Somebody folded every single one of those 140,000 planes. Most nosedived into a wall on the first throw. The ones that flew got refolded from the ones that didn't, and that's the entire philosophy of this studio on one government-funded web page.
Fold. Throw. Refold. The long version is here.
